I read and hear a lot of stuff, sometime from TV commentators, about how Heskey is a threat, about how dangerous he is in the air, about all sorts of other things. And, just maybe, he does perform like that. But we all like to see strikers strike, don't we? Just try to recall how many goals he has scored from so many starts. To me, he looks pathetically pained when he misses a chance (as though it was not his fault), he manages to fall down regularlyand he agues with the ref. sometimes resulting in a yellow card. But when oh when he is going to strike?? I hear some of you say that he will strike when he gets the service. He has had plenty of service and still no goals. He missed a sitter yesterday. (OK, he was off balance but that is not an cceprable excuse.) And what about the howler against Wigan when he missed the ball completely? If Pennant had passed the ball to Heskey against Wigan after Pennant's 20m run, what would Heskey have done with it? (I doubt that he would have scored.) So where to now? In my opinion, it has to be Sutton and Forcell to start up front from now on. And when Heskey comes off the bench, then we can look forward to some decent stikes from him. |

all well and good but Forssell still isn't fit, not 100%..... still wanna risk hiim? IMO Heskey has almost given up... but in his defence he still isn't receiving the ball in the right area's. oh and further to that...I hear Sutton isn't fit either :( |

Your entitled to your opinion. but i think you should watch Heskey during games and see how he is expected to operate. Also name me a striker in any lge that is capable of bringing the ball down, turning , beating his marker and scoring in all in one movement. Its easy to blame the players but who gives them their instructions before going on the pitch............................ maybe you should be looking elsewhere to apportion blame. |

He wins plenty of flick-on's but for who ? That's the problem, he's being expected to win a header, then chase after it. Playing one player up front is Ok (sometimes) IF you've a player like AJ with pace and the ball is played along the floor through the channels for him to run on to. For Heskey, the ball is smashed forward onto his head, for him to head it on, to who ? Oh, Emile Heskey. Cut the guy some slack. I have no problem with him. He always gives his all so far as I am concerned. He is the victim of poor tactics :( . |

He is told to play with his back to goal, so it isn't him you should be blaming for his lack of goals, it's the management. If he played with a partner, and was allowed to run a people and have a bit more creative freedom, i think he's score alot more **thumbup |

what a bunch of jokers some of you lot are! Heskey receives **** service, Pennant must only deliver 20% of his crosses accurately, Forsell won't be fit until next season (if we stay up) and Sutton has no pace to feed off Heskey! I agree 100% with one of the previous comments, who has Heskey got to nod the ball down to? Himself? If you lot ain't got nothing better to talk about, don't talk at all!! Jokers!!! |

So to score he must only get crossses? ok than, you seen some of the chances he has missed this season? People moan about gray look heskey missed a chance vs chelsea, should have got on target and a couple yesterday. |

I cant believe you can criticise Heskey. He leads the line fantastically well. He has been brilliant for us since day one. |

Yes Heskey is a hard worker etc. and he is most certainly the victim of s**t tactics. However, that goes for all of our players. Pandiani is equally the victim of crap tactics, and gets dropped all over the place or asked to play in midfield, yet he is criticised far more often and actually has a better striker rate. Besides which: the chances that Heskey missed against Wigan, Torquay, Chelsea etc. were STILL chances that he should have put away - or at the very least got on target. If Gray would have missed a chance like that from 8 yards people would still be harping on about it, and he has only scored a couple less and created more than 'Big Emile.' TBH I would rather have a lazy sod who scored more goals, a la the Forse last time he was with us than someone who 'leads the line well' but is (currently) doing dilly squat |

Agree with that but the bloke couldn't finish a hotdog. £6m for somebody to hold the ball up isn't really value for money is it? |

Lets set things straight here Heskey is a major threat in the role he was bought for. Bruce bought him in mind to partner and feed the ball to a quick striker he has not once had the opertunity to form any sort of partnership with Forsell as Bruce desired so he has been asked to play up front virtually on his own, a role no striker relishes especially one as unselfish as Heskey. His instinct is to set his target man up thats the way he has always played and thats why we bought him. I would put a vast amount of money on the geordies trying to sign him if we get relegated. Its not a case of him being a **** striker its a case of him not being played to his strengths, the ideal target man for him would have been Bellamy like it or not. Heskey is quality and i cant wait for him to find a good upfront partner, maybe it will be Sutton who knows but when he does mark my words he will be unstoppable. **thumbup |

Maybe that is the case with Emile - when he has thr right partner he will be great. However, TBH with many of the things we are praising him for - leading the line, being unselfish etc. - we may as well have got Kevin Davies, who is extremely underrated except by Bolton fans (I live in Stockport so know a fair few) and gone for a better goal scorer. |

why don't you see how Forssell, sutton and pandiani would do up-front on there own with No service, we miss Hesko when we don't play, remember the one game he missed and we didn't create one chance when we were hammered 4-1 and u didn't even realise that Pandiani was playing, heskey has done really well for us despite what we've done this season, althogh 3 goals in 18 games is pretty poor althogh he's never really been a goalscorer. |
